2022+ BRZ/GR86 Motorsport Door Pulls (Installation Guide)

Overview: This manual provides step-by-step instructions for the installation of the motorsport door release, including removal of the door card, disconnection of wiring, and assembly of new components.

1. Remove screw covers and screws from door card.

3. Remove door card lifting in an upward motion.

4. Unplug wiring connectors for the door speaker, courtesy light and window controls.

7. Remove clips retaining the door handle facia piece.

8. Remove door handle spring from retainer.

9. Remove door lock indicator by prying up the plastic locating pin on the top (circled below). A small screwdriver or pick can be used as a lever (This is best done from the rear of the door handle assembly).

10. Remove door handle by prying it off the lower locating pin with a medium sized screwdriver and pulling it out of the housing.

11. Reinstall door lock indicator and the new plastic handle replacement by snaping them back onto the locating pins. The deeper notch on the new handle replacement should be facing towards the bottom of the handle assembly. The part will make a clicking/snapping sound once on the locating pin pictured below.

12. Reinstall door handle facia piece.

13. Reinstall the door handle assembly into the door card.

14. Remove one of the screws from the nylon strap.

15.  Pass the door release mechanism through the open side of the nylon strap, underneath one of the plastic bracing plates. (Make sure the cable with the black tip is used as this is the door release mechanism, the yellow tipped cable is the door lock mechanism).

16. Reinstall the second retaining screw and tighten both nuts with a 3mm allen key and 3 mm socket. 

17. Thread the nylon strap through the small opening in the door handle assembly (pictured below). Reinstall the door handle cable (black tip). Reinstall the locking mechanism cable (yellow tip).

18. Pull nylon strap to make sure mechanism is functioning and the nuts are not catching on any pieces of the door handle assembly.

19. Reconnect the cables for the door speaker, window controls, and courtesy light. 

20. Reinstall the door card, screws and screw covers.

21. Repeat on the other door.
